How to deal with exam stress?

Hey! Welcome back to yet another post in Rey Blogs. This week's post is going to be about how we can deal with exam stress.

What is exam stress?

Exam stress is when you are completely stressed (a feeling of emotional or physical tension due to some coming or present event that makes you angry, sad or frustrated) about your coming exams or while you are giving the exam.




Why do we feel exam stress?

You may feel exam stress when you and the people around you (especially parents, friends and teachers) have high expectations about your results of exams and the following exams might be very important to your future studies or job.

You may also feel the stress when there is very little time for you to prepare for the exam and the exams are just around the corner. So, you may feel very unprepared and might get stressed while you are studying/giving the exam.

Is exam stress good or bad?

In a way, feeling little stressed about your exams might be good. It may make you more concentrated and energized about your exams and you might study well. But too much exam stress....is it good? Certainly no, if you are feeling too stressed, everything happens the opposite to what I just mentioned before. You may feel angry, frustrated and may not be able to concentrate or study well.

So...How do we deal with it?

There are many ways to deal with exam stress. Here, we will mention some of the most important methods which might make you less tense/ stressed.

Do not think too much about exams.

This may take some time for you to adjust your mind to, but it will be very helpful. Yes, it will be difficult to not think about exams, when your exams are close or your exams have already started. You should try, try your best to not think too much about it, take time for yourself, and relax your mind and body.

Remember: Exams are not everything ! You will still have other chances and opportunities to prove yourself and live the life you want.

Meditate and do yoga everyday.

It is very important for you to take a deep breath, and meditate, meditate for as much time as possible. It will help you feel more relaxed and calm. It will automatically help you feel less stressed or not stressed at all ! Yoga will certainly help you to concentrate on everything that you do and feel more motivated.

Do activities that you love, apart from your studies.

It's very important for our mental health to do things that make us happy, be it painting, reading, cycling, gaming or anything else that makes you feel good, everyday !

Interact and Communicate !

Talk to the people you love: Your friends and family. Sharing your feelings and worries will make you feel more better. Talking to your bestfriends will help you a long way more than your realize.

Listen to music

Listening to the music and songs you love, will help you for sure. You may listen to upbeat songs or relaxing and soothing music. It will help you take a break and refresh yourself.

Read, read and read...

Read books from any genre you like, apart from your academic books. It will help you escape the present reality and live in a world that's entirely your own, where you don't have to worry about anything.

Enjoy the nature around you.

Take some time to look around yourself, around your house and your neighborhood. Enjoy nature ! Take a long walk in the park or just stare outside your window. It will clear your mind and make you feel pleasant.

Try your best !

No matter what happens, you should always try your best and keep on trying until you succeed. Focus on your studies as much as possible and do not let anything come as an obstacle to your dreams.
