Know your topic.

It’s very important while writing an essay, any type of essay, to have a clear view of the topic on which you are about to write. You may find some information about it from any resources and write upon it. It's very difficult to write about something that we do not know very clearly.

Use exclamatory sentences.

This tip is very handy when you wish to write a narrative composition. It's very important to connect with your readers. For example:

“The movie that we watched yesterday was so good! That I wouldn’t ever forget it.”

The above statement is always better than just simply mentioning about it

“The movie that we watched yesterday was very good.”

Provide good and necessary description.

It is always advised to provide good but only satisfying description. Sometimes, overwhelming the reader with a lot of description is not a good idea. The reader slowly begins to get bored by the story and would probably skip out those sentences that are descriptive.

But this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be describing. Remember, “A clear imagination is always better than a blurred one.” Therefore, provide the reader with a clear description.

For example:

“The bag was bright red in color and there was a harry potter keychain on it.”

Character building

In case, if your essay is a story, it's very important to develop the character, you can describe the character’s looks and personality. It is even advisable to bring out the flaws of the character to make the character even more realistic.

Adequate information

While writing about essays that are written to provide some information about the topic, it is sound to provide with apt information. This sounds pretty much like the first tip but the catch is that you shouldn't be providing unnecessary information/ too much information. The sentences must be clear and understandable and refrain from complicating them. The information provided must be related to the topic.

Giving catchy titles.

It is very prudent to give catchy titles to your essays. The reader should be interested in your essay even before they start reading it!

This is especially handy when you are participating in a competition or while writing a blog. The reader would be automatically attracted to the essay that you have written. It will buy you bonus points!

Writing sentences in active voice.

It is sensible to write your sentences in the active voice. In this way, the reader is able to understand the things clearly.

For example: “Her mother told her to go to the store.”

Is better than:

“She was told to go to the store by her mother.”

This is thought entirely as per your wish. In some cases, passive voice is more apt for a sentence.

Concluding the essay

It is wise to conclude the essay in a favorable manner. For example, if it is an essay providing your views on a subject, it is desirable to conclude the essay by mentioning your main view of the topic once again. The conclusion of the essay always remains framed in the readers mind. The beginning and the end always are remembered by us.
